Title: LIKE A PRAYER{SHAWN}
Description: tag!
Zoey Sutton - February 27, 2011 01:19 AM (GMT)
Zoey headed into Beezy's hall. She'd gotten a call about a drunk human causing havoc. When she arrived, it was the local drunk being rambunctious. She nodded to the bar owner and ushered him out, telling him to go home and rest.
She sighed and entered the bar again. She was dressed in her Sheriff's uniform. Her radio cackled softly and she slid onto one of the stools in front of the bar. The bartender nodded to her and she asked for just an iced tea.
She never drank. Didn't like the taste. It took a lot for werewolves to get drunk as they tolerated it fairly well. She took a sip of her iced tea and kept her ears pricked for anything else that might go on.
This place was a bit different than the other areas in the town. It had a bit more of a 'mixed' crowd per se. They sold blood to those that were vampires and asked. Of course, fae, angels, werewolves and others come here on Friday nights or so to relax and have a good time. Generally there is no trouble in here, but when Frank gets in here and drinks to much, issues arise. He doesn't mean to do things, but he can't help it.
Zoey's radio cackled again, and she could hear her dispatcher calling for another officer to check on Mrs. Finn, an elderly woman that lived just on the brink of town. Apparently, she hadn't been seen for two days now. Zoey's alert button was pressed but she stayed and finished. If they needed her, they could certainly get her.
Shawn Woods - February 27, 2011 02:07 AM (GMT)
The day had been a pretty slow one. Shawn hadn't bothered getting out at all until he finally got too bored playing Fallout on the PS3. (he was a hard gamer) So, leaving his apartment on foot (he hadn't that much money for a car), the young male headed to the closest hang-out area, Beezy's Hall. It wasn't his most favorite stop in the town, but it wasn't the worst. The only thing a person should worry about when entering Beezy's is the drunken idiots who seem to float in and out like clouds. However, fair skys seemed the weather choice inside the bar area today.
Shawn stepped casually aside as one of the local drunks of the town made his way out. He looked like a ticked off monkey, he sure walked like one. Haha. There could only be one reason the fellow left so soon (because he obviously wasn't done with whatever he was doing). The answer came fairly quickly when Shawn spotted the exact person he expected shooed the fly. Sheriff Sutton.
Now Sutton was someone Shawn found out real quick to not upset if you knew what was good for ya. And what upset her was trouble. Not that the hot-tempered hybrid ever did something such as that! At least, not intentionally most of the time...
On occasion he might start a fight, but only on good cause. Getting back wasn't a crime, it was life. Shawn had done some time in the so called 'jail' building, and has somewhat of a crime record; most being assault, or..what was it? Sexual harassment. Pfhh, Some law system. Shawn had thought the first time he had gotten into trouble for that; it wasn't like the girl didn't want it.
Shawn stared at the sheriff's back for a few seconds, contemplating whether or not he shouldn't just leave now and save whatever punishment he might get from the girl later. It was amazing how every time he crossed paths with that werewolf, Shawn always got the 'i'm watching you' eye. And he knew it wasn't just him of course; but honestly, he hadn't done anything at all to piss her off lately. Perhaps it was routine. Whatever it was, he disliked being seen as some criminal, when all he had been doing with his time in this town was live his life defensively. But life was never fair it seemed.
Sighing slightly, Shawn decided to just see what would happen. He was in a pretty fair mood, and unless someone came up to him and threw a punch, he wouldn't be starting any fights. Plus, he was really drawn to whatever perfume Zoey was wearing. Being what he was; Shawn sometimes loved his heightened senses, he needed to credit them more often.
In a simple black, short-sleeved shirt and jeans, Shawn walked steadily past where Sutton sat at the bar and settled in a seat three down from hers. He didn't want to be too close, yet he didn't want to be too far. There was no easy way to admit this; but Shawn found the women extremely breath-taking,. It was a hard feeling for Shawn to accept since werewolves just spelled 'scum' in his personal opinion. But Sutton seemed much different from the rowdy, severely hot-headed werewolves he was used to being met with; and hey, she wasn't too far off to the kind of gal he would like to be with. She was independent, strong and looked down upon bad actions. Now, not all the bad actions Shawn agreeded with, but the ones that kept the world as civil as possible were just fine. He admired her; and that not only brought deep respect for the werewolf crime-fighter, but it made Shawn very nervous. And that lay the delima.
Thinking about the brunette werewolf, Shawn realized he was staring in her direction for far too long than deamed appropriate.
damn it...why does her hair have to look so perfect? and those eyes, that nose, cheek-bones... The hybrid stopped his thoughts before they went into even more detail by tearing his gaze away from Zoey.
Blinking over to look at the bartender; Shawn quietly ordered his drink; and then preoccupied himself from looking back to that gorgeous face, by counting the dust-specks he examined on the smooth surface of the bar. Meanwhile, he kept his ears alert for any out of the ordinary sounds, while he waited for his coke. He hated beer and whatever other appalling drink they had on their menu; and honestly he wasn't in the mood for blood at the moment, go figure.
Zoey Sutton - February 27, 2011 05:04 PM (GMT)
Zoey's nose told her that Shawn had arrived. He was a unique species, werewolf and vampire. Zoey turned around on her stool and gave him a friendly smile. He thought that she always gave him the 'watchful' eye, but that wasn't the case. Zoey was tough yes, but she was friendly and fair. She only got tough when it needed. Granted the boy started fights on occasion, but Zoey knew he was an OK kid.
"Bored today Shawn?" She asked him softly, watching him. She had felt him staring at her for a bit but she ignored the tingling sensation.
She slid off her stool after finishing her iced tea and paid the bartender for the drink. She walked over to him and leaned her hip against the booth. She looped her thumbs through the belt loops on her slacks waiting for him to respond.
Most in town liked her for those particular reasons. She hated trouble, yet she was kind and friendly.
"What brings you out today?" She implied of him curiously and watched.
Her deputy was the one that was suspicious of new werewolves and supernaturals. He was a bit gruffer than she was, and she could understand why when there was trouble, most called for her
Shawn Woods - February 27, 2011 06:30 PM (GMT)
It didn't take long for the brunette werewolf to acknowledge Shawn's quiet presence. He knew Zoey was always striking up conversations with the people of the town; it made her seem like the good guy, and not the person who threw folks in jail every other day. And she didn't judge others concerning species; which made it even harder for Shawn not to admire the she-wolf.
Her question was more of a statement to Shawn, which he briefly acknowledged with a short 'i suppose' look, which looked more like a cold 'what-do-care'. It wasn't uncommon for Shawn to act this way; it wasn't that he was trying to anger people, it was just the way he was. Besides, Zoey seemed to be leveling out the mood with her friendly aura, which evidently had a positive effect on the hybrid, no matter how much he disliked admitting.
As his drink came, Shawn was fully aware of Sutton's sudden move closer to where he sat.
get any closer and I'll definitely end up in jail for more than a day... Shawn thought with a shadowed smirk. Zoey did have a tendency to get into other's personal zones, whether or not she was aware, Shawn did not know. Any who, he had to remind himself to keep his wits, just keep it cool. And how hard could that be for a guy like him?
"what brings you out today?" He heard her curious question once she had gotten settled.
Shawn hadn't the slightest notion other than his own uninteresting in his apartment. It was an obvious reason of course. One Zoey surely knew, but was only asking to get a conversation started. Shawn stared down at his coke for a few seconds, as if contemplating his answer carefully before turning so his upper body was facing the female.
"Looking for other excitement outside of my utterly boring loft I suppose." His answer was crisp and straight-forward enough. And he thought it sounded convincing enough for such a sheriff as Zoey.
"What? You think I'm out to cause another bar-fight like the one last week? Though if I recall correctly, I wasn't the drunk one." Shawn's white teeth flashed briefly, showing two unnaturally longer upper canines than normal humans possessed. Perks of being a vampire. One, cool fangs.
His assumption was meant to be humorous, but held a ominous, nearly unnoticed challenge. Shawn was ninety-five percent certain Sheriff Sutton was suspicious of her past criminals she's had to lock up; and it wasn't like today was any different from that week ago. Oh she was good at casual interrogations, but Shawn knew better. But his careful, cool attitude could further fuel her suspicions. Of course, like stated before, Shawn wasn't in here to cause trouble.
Keeping his eyes glued to her inevitably, warm ones, the softly smug-faced supernatural waited for what she would say.
Zoey Sutton - February 27, 2011 11:19 PM (GMT)
Zoey raised an eyebrow at him.
"No you weren't the drunk one, which was why you got off easy" she said her voice matching the challenge and firmness. "And you clearly don't know me very well Shawn. It's not like I go around and arrest people for petty crap and do it for the hell of it"
Her tone had become slightly harder at that. Some thought the only thing she did was arrest people and put them in jail for minor shit. No. They got put in jail becasue they deserve it. That's all.
"You might wanna relax there Shawn" She added as an afterthought but her tone was meaningful.
She sighed and studied him.
"Well today's a lovely day out to go exploring. " Zoey replied. "I don't think we're gonna get fine afternoons like that."
She smiled at him.
She reached up and tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear and waited for Shawn to respond. Her radio cackled again but she lowered the volume and waited.
Shawn Woods - February 28, 2011 12:45 AM (GMT)
Seeing that he had struck a nerve in the brunette, Shawn in turn raised his eyebrow, or actually eyebrows after her first words. He wondered just how many different ways he could piss off miss petty-crap stopper. Shawn had mental list of some things already; but it was too long to go into. He had a knack for spotting details, and Sutton could give off quite a few.
"Well obviously that's apparent. But I do know you have a pretty little temper Sheriff." Flashing another quick smirk, Shawn chuckled slightly, wondering if he would get any crap from that later. The confident male wasn't afraid to speak to the higher ranked woman in such a manner. It just made it all the funner to do it someone he knew he should be showing the utmost respect. Please, respect was a foreign language to Shawn half the time...
Turning toward the glass of coke, Shawn's brow furrowed slightly. Where was his straw? What was wrong with this bartender? Hadn't he remembered from last time? Gah.
"Hey! Could I get a straw over here!" Shawn shouted down toward the server. A tinge of impatience layered his simple request.
honestly, is that too much to ask? Lip curling in minor annoyment, the dark-haired male glowered right back to match the bartender once he turned to acknowledge Shawn's request, or really, demand.
Grabbing the cold glass once the straw was placed in the liquid, Shawn looked at Zoey for a few moments before saying simply, "I'm relaxed." In all honestly, he was more relaxed than he'd been in a long while. His temper could flair up randomly (like just then) and then be cooled down in less than a blink of an eye.
Sucking through the straw, Shawn listened to the next few words spoken by Sutton. Ah yes, how the day was. Typical small-talk. Well, at least she had a lot to talk about. This both amused and annoyed the hybrid at the same time, but he didn't show it. But the seesaw was higher on the amused side than anything else, it was hard to be annoyed by most of the stuff the pretty werewolf did.
"It's a tad too sunny for me." Shawn said blankly, while pushing the glass from side to side with his finger absently. "I'm hoping for rain." Blinking back in her direction, he seemed skeptic of his next words, "Now aren't we terribly cliché? Talking about the weather...not the excitement I was looking for when I walked in here." Shawn's voice carried a rather playful easiness, not common to the werewolf hybrid. Despite being a blood-drinking, usually cold-tempered creature, Shawn's eyes showed much the opposite. They had a light hazel color, almost amber, that held a certain humor and mystery. His eyes tended to show one emotion at a time, but always had that mysterious glint. Was it genetic of a being like him? He had no clue, but it tended to intimidate some people.
"So.." Shawn continued on before she could respond, glancing momently down toward her sheriff radio, or whatever it was called. He could hear the distinct cackling sound of static, along with someone unfamiliar to Shawn reporting something. Must not be an important call, other wise she wouldn't have turned it down.
"Find out anything new about those disappearances?" Shawn had heard a few days back about the people suddenly vanishing without a trace from the town. And from what Shawn has heard, these disappearances aren't all coincidental. It was strange. Looking back at Zoey, Shawn waited with curious intent for her to dish out some possibly new details.
Zoey Sutton - February 28, 2011 10:49 PM (GMT)
Zoey relazed now, seeing that he hadn't meant anything.
She grinned at him.
"I know right? The weather, new movies" She joked and slid onto the booth seat across from him. The waitress brought him a straw and he had asked about the disappearances. Zoey shook her head.
"Unfortunately, nothing new. It's rather unnerving really cause each species is targeted. There have been some strange imprints around the area's where the body was missing from. But other than that there is nothing new. This has to be someone who is clearly sick...or who doesn't like supernatural people, which would lead to a human...or worse a radical. The problem is there is just no proof" She said sadly, exhaling loudly.
The door opened, the little bell jingling above it. An elderly woman entered. She scooted to a corner booth. Zoey turned her attention back to Shawn.
"Well, I know the national park has a new hiking trail and camp ground. If you're bored and looking for adventure, you could try that." Zoey offered him softly.
"The problem is too that we aren't finding bodies, which is even worse." Her voice dropped to below a whisper. There had to be something. No one vanished into thin air. It was not possible....was it?
Shawn Woods - March 1, 2011 12:26 AM (GMT)
Shawn listened carefully to what Zoey was explaining, which was evidently not much more than what he'd picked up before.
just what we need, more sick-os running around this town... Shawn frowned briefly before casting his gaze over the brunette's shoulder, thinking quietly to himself.
It wasn't a secret that the young hybrid wasn't on edge about these mysterious vanishing acts. What made it even more unnerving like Zoey had said were the different targeted species. Whoever, or hehe, whatever this was, obviously didn't pick favorites. Shawn could completely understand vampires going out of their way to form a small group and go werewolf hunting. But of course, those attacks had been controlled a long time ago. And as much Shawn would have loved to join in on those raids, he had decided against such violent measures. He didn't start fights. But of course that decision had gotten him a lot of crap from the pure-blooded vampire squad. Shawn could recall being threatened and even called a 'furry wimp'. Now that hadn't been very nice of the prideful vampire he'd met; but Shawn hadn't had any serious confrontations with the particular ass-hole in quite some time. It was nice to know some of the vampires in the town accepted his difference in the so-called 'circle of blood' crowd.
Blinking back to Sutton's dark brown gaze, Shawn's head tilted to the side slightly at her offer about the new trail opening up. "I'll keep that in mind." Shawn said smoothly, eyes flickering over toward the rather old looking woman that entered the Hall. It was hard to believe the old girl had it in her to get out of her safe-haven of a home and come down to a rowdy place like this. Well, he couldn't really judge her too quickly, she wasn't some weak human, that much Shawn could tell.
Eyes returning quickly back to Zoey's, Shawn noted her tone change. She was definitely worried greatly about these disappearances. "Well they didn't just drop everything and vanish on the spot. Perpetrator is going to slip up sooner or later." Shawn spoke matter-of-factly, though he hadn't been to school in a long while, the dark-haired adult had been reading a lot of Criminal Justice books (plus Law and Order was on nearly all the time now a days). So he knew a thing or two what he was talking about.
"Though..it's still strange...Had there been any scent trails at all?" Shawn couldn't imagine how anyone could conceal their scent so easily, if it truly had been a kidnapping or whatever it was that was happening to these lost people.
Zoey Sutton - March 2, 2011 09:53 PM (GMT)
Zoey frowned, deep in thought.
"Now that you mention it, we hadn't really been noticing any scents. But if you want, between you and me, I could take you the nearest scene. We could see if we find anything," Zoey offered him brightly.
Perhaps with the two of them they could find something that Zoey was possibly overlooking. It was against the rules to have a citizen aide in investigations, but Shawn could help maybe. She could get another perspective on it.
She watched the old woman for a moment before turning her eyes back onto Shawn.
"When you're done we can go. It's near town, just on the edge of the Asylum property." Perhaps there was some kind of connection between the Asylum and the disappearances?
With that thought floating around her head, Zoey began getting excited a bit.
"What if these disappearances are related to that horrible asylum?" She whispered to Shawn, her eyes twinkling as she leaned forward a bit and waited for his response
Shawn Woods - March 4, 2011 02:18 AM (GMT)
Upon hearing Zoey's offer, Shawn found himself raising a curious brow. Him? At a crime scene. The thought was impossible, yet very temping..
But the thing that surprised the hybrid the most was the fact that she had offered him of all crazy brutes! Sure he could scent stuff and all but, his overall profile didn't seem to fit a job like that. Being around a crime scene and all. Hell, Shawn was the one avoiding places like that.
well, as long as their's no bloody corpses laying around... Shawn had been watching too much CSI. He inwardly grinned, feeling suddenly anxious about going to search for clues of what may have happened. Plus, if he was going to be spending a little more time with Sutton; he sure as hell wasn't going to pass up a glorious opportunity like that...
"I suppose I could help. I am a rather good tracker if I do say so myself." The male boasted lightly, eyes brightening unnaturally. He took another long sip of the coke, listening to what the werewolf said next.
Asylum... Shawn knew that place, it was the place for crazies, right? He'd only driven by there, never really sticking by to see who or what came in. (which is probably why he didn't stick by, there wasn't ever anyone leaving, just going in) How creepy was that place.
"What if." Shawn emphasized, frowning slightly at the thought of some insane maniac being the cause of all the disappearances. Well, then there was always the staff...
"Place for the mentally insane? I wouldn't be surprised if there was some sort of connection." He shrugged, looking into her eyes skeptically. She was definitely raring to get this mystery solved. She was like an adult version of nancy drew, or one of those hardy boys.
curse those addictive mystery novels.. Sighing internally, Shawn blinked slowly down toward the table-top as he waited for Zoey's response.
