Welcome to Revuenex, or as some like to call it, Heaven. With a crime rate below 1%, affordable healthcare, and excellent education, what’s not to love? Even some of the most prestigious men and women call the city home. Of course, there is the small matter of the local asylum…

Scarlet Rose has been around for decades, though no one pays it any mind. Only recently has it become popular thanks to the discovery of a new virus. The virus, which can be detected via blood, has been said to drive people mad. Yet, it only effects a small portion of those born within the city. Still, as a result, mandatory blood tests are performed at birth.

If traces of the virus are found, parents are informed and the child is logged into a government database. They are then instructed to inform local officials when the virus ‘awakens’, or rather, when the child begins hallucinating or acting unnatural in any way. Fortunately, this can be a long wait; it can take anywhere from 5 - 29 years to happen.

When the virus does awaken, officials take the child to Scarlet Rose Asylum for the remainder of their days.

Little does anyone know the truth that lies behind the asylum’s stone walls…

Subplots
A Small Mistake
Blood is always in demand in the medical field and thankfully the local citizens are always willing to supply. One step in the donation process is to screen the donated blood, just to make sure it's healthy. It is through this process that officials discovered something disastrous: Certain carriers were not in their records.

Further investigation has uncovered an even larger problem. A local doctor was falsifying documents. For the last ten years at least ten carriers have gone undocumented thanks to this, or so the government estimates. Now it's their job to find the carriers that have slipped through the system before someone else does.

On the Run
Where there's a will, there's a way. This common saying accurately explains how a handful of Scarlet Rose's carriers were able to escape with the aid of some rebels. Staff and government officials are already working on a resolution. A team of expert bounty hunters has been unleashed. Their orders are simple: Bring back all patients alive.

As for the general public, they have no idea what's going on. All reports of strange occurrences have been quickly censored. Intimidation tactics have also worked wonders, when absolutely necessary. Yet, not all people can be silenced. Rebels realize something's amiss, and they're not going to stop until the truth is exposed.
