I've resently come to 40k and i find myself straying from beaten paths, upon one such forray i came across Malice/Malik a fifth chaos god less well known. Due to his obscurity and basic discription after having read Legion and learning more about Alpha Legion i felt the two meshed.

By posting this i would like feed back and/or any extra information on both Alpha Legion and Malice.

there is a short story in "the victories of the space marines" (i think, there have been a few short story collections about space marines over the last few years...) that discusses the "Sons of Malice" Chaos Space Marine warband. there isn't a whole lot of description as to what Malice is or what he(she/it) wants, but it gives a decent view of his main devotees.

hope that helps, and GREAT after post message

Sons of MAlice are notoriously difficult to find information about, even more so than the AL.

Basically, IIRC, Malal was non-GW property, either swiped from some other source, or penned in a graphic novel about Kaleb Daark*, where the rights to the Malal character belonged to the author (or someone else again) and so GW dropped all usage of Malal as a result.

However, there did seem to be a mini resurrgence when the Sons of Malice were mentioned in some publication, but without much backstory again. There may have been a picture, but I'm not sure on that either. Unfortunately I can't remember where; maybe an Imperial Armour mention?

What I do know is that GW avoided re-printing anything to do with Malal, and only hinted at the Chaos vs Chaos/mino chaos god thing, if at all.

So here is what i've found/interperated about Malal/Malice.
He is the fifth chaos god, the embodiement of chaos's ultimate self-destruction. He's powers are parasitic to the other four gods, meaning the stronger they are the stronger He is. Malice some how sequestered himself away from the other gods or was banished to obsurity within the warp. Giving him the titles: "The Outcast God", "The Lost God" and "The Renegade God".
There are no known Deamons that serve Malice, plus the characteristic powers that are common among the other Ruinous powers evident.
From what i have gathered Malice has no deamons f his own but instead chains/binds those of the other gods to use. Given that his powers are parasitic in nature and that he represents Chaos's tendencies for self-destruction i believe he mimicks the abilities or absorbs them to feed off. This is shown in the comic of Kaleb Daark's DreadAxe that drinks the souls of other Chaos Champions.

Thanks for the links guys they've helped alot, i am curious as to opinions on how this could be worked or what might be done. My idea is a core of Alpha Legion with a Lord, Sorcerer and then using zerks and such specialists as being used/manipulated.

Malal the Renegade God no longer exists for all intents and purposes. The man who wrote the fluff for GW was the sole owner of the copyrights. So when he left GW, they decided it would just be easier to drop him all together and in response created two new "minor" gods who basically fell flat. Some of the fans continued to keep Malal alive in their own way. The only response to this has been when BL(not GW) decided to resurrect him. However, they could not do it all the way because of GW. So he is now a minor warp power called Malice. But since nothing else has changed, I would hazard that his background, motivation and reasoning is still the same.

To be honest, you came up with a really good idea. Hope to see where you go with it.

Malal i agree is mostly off limits for GW, yet there are still a few players using Malice.
Given the character of Malice as a chaos god or simply a greater deamon. How best to go about using the other gods powers against them.

This i think is where we of Alpha legion shine, manipulating fellow chaos warbands to fight for us. Seeding misinformation on attacks and movements, even going so far as to have greater deamon summoned to do the work for us. Only to have them defeated.

The idea i'm having for this is a core force of Alpha Legion manipulating the other forces of chaos into achieving whatever goal and thinking its all for their indiviual gods worship. I'm hoping this would work in giving me the options of some of the more specialist like berzerkers and such, while still having a fluffy aspect.
