AL 12th company (re-done)

A while ago i made an army list, So Here is an amended version of that, let me know what you think. Would love to hear positive and/or Negative feedback as well as potential tactics.

ALPHA LEGION 12th COMPANY

Pedro Kantor- 175pts

Vulkan He'stan- 190pts

2 units of 10 Sternguard Veterans,
Sarge with power fist. Each unit has a Drop pod. 310pts each.

1 unit of 9 Sternguard Veterans,
Sarge with power fist. Has a Drop pod. 285pts

2 units of 10 marines, 1 marine with flamer, one marine with lascannon.
Each unit has a Razorback with twin linked lascannon. 255pts each.

5 Vanguard Veterans, Sarge /w/ Thunder Hammer. 140pts

1 land speeder with an upgraded multi melta and an additional multi melta . 80pts

total= 2000pts.

If you can find some points somewhere, those sternguard could use a few combi-meltas to utilise when they initially deep strike.

As i understand it, vulkan is best used with multiple upgradable weapons; in fact just looking at the rules agains shows that you can't utilise both kantor's and vulkan's chapter tactics in the same game, so using vulkan seems to be a waste of points...

It might also be nice to add locator beacons to all those drop pods so that your vanguard have an initial area within which to come in, as well as helping support the third drop pod and the speeder if it deep strikes.

Combi-Meltas do seem like a good idea...

As for Vulkan i Just like him, and since i had 190pts to spare just went for it. any suggestions as for what to use instead of him?

Locator beacons. lol i had completely forgot about them. As for the speeder, it does not deep strike.

Plus i was not planning on Deep striking with the vanguards.

Still, 5 vanguard, on foot, seems a little vulnerable to being out manouvered. I can sort of see that you might use them as a counter assault force to cover the two combat squads with lascannons in a firebase, but it leaves them out in the cold should the enemy not come towards that position, and moving anywhere else on foot makes them vulnerable and slow.

You might want to think about a librarian for some psychic defense.

OK, so lets take away Vulkan, Add a librarian who has a jump pack, and the psychic powers the avenger and quickening, plus 3 more Vanguards and give all the vans jump packs, that adds up to 2k

woops take away those 3 extra vanguards. lol slight miscalculation.

5 vanguard vets, 1 thunder hammer, 5 jump packs.

is that including locator beacons too? (very handy for heroic intervention)

Went and got the models for my sternguard today im using the death company models because i think they're sweet

Those infernus pistols will make great bits to convert bolters to combi-meltas
