When I read the end of the story I assumed that Omegon's other suit of armour was his Infiltrator armour.

I liked the story itself very much as well as the fact that is really encourages us to play the legion in any way we like either pro or antiimperial. It of course raises the question whether or not the legion truly is divided down the middle and whether infighting often occurs, since our primarch(s) is playing all angles but without a central command structure.
This story also sows even more doubt about whether or not Alpharius really was killed by Guilliman or not, since Ranko could masquerade as a primarch without his own legionairres could tell the difference.

Now all we need another complete book about the Legion ^^

Here's my own detailed review as part of my notes on the Alpha Legion. Yes, I keep detailed notes because the whole thing is so damn convoluted and the tiniest details when analysed in context hint at HUGE things. Obviously feel free to comment after you've read the story a couple of times!

Hydra Dominatus!

Well, what to say more - I have reach exact conclusions, unfortuantely I dont thing we ever get answer to all those question emerged from this novela.

Well, a few points...

First of all I just want to say I find it hilarious that the legion fluff keeps us discussing their intentions to this degree. It's very fluffy! biggrin.gif

And after that I have a few points to make. First of all, since the heresy started, even in the books, the Alpha Legion was never pro-imperial. Neither of the choices they got in "Legion" was pro-imperial(either destroy the imperium immediately and defeat chaos, or save the imperium and watch it's slow but inevitable decline and destruction(though they chose a third "hidden" path)). In Deliverance Lost they operated against a loyalist faction, ending up with them not leaving all the information they had to their allies. Though this doesn't mean they were pro-imperial in any way. They had still prevented the rebuild of Raven Guard strength and the loyalist usage of the geneseed data. In the Serpent Beneath they were operating against themselves, neither Alpharius(bombing planets, grand schemes against the white scars) or Omegon(plotting stuff in the shadows, stealthing around and infiltrating anything) was doing anything for the good of the imperium. They knew this was coming before anyone else did basically, and they adapt to service themselves...

Weather the legion is divided is a mystery as well, but a fact is that Omegon is lying to Alpharius, and most likely the other way around too.

Eskrandor...yeah, we don't even know that the battle took place! smile.gif The Inquisitor with the most knowledge about the darn thing disappeared mysteriously, while there were "accusations" that he was working with Alpha Legion...mysterious and suspicious indeed...and furthermore, the Ultramarines doesn't have records of such a defeat...

Though I wholly and fully agree on the fact that we need a full Alpha Legion book more! Hopefully with a successful extraction this time... wink.gif

I'm eagerly awaiting the development of the AL story.

I don't know that we will ever be let in on their true loyalties or motivations. Probably very few of them even know themselves, anymore.

It would also be nice to have some modern fluff besides that Voldorius business.

I also love that we seem to be able to discuss our intentions indefinitely, especially without it descents into a mudslinging contest.

Personally I am getting more and more convinced that the legion chose the third alternative and followed their own agenda, whatever that might be. Sadly it seems the twins don't quite agree on what that might be. By playing both sides of the heresy (Alpharius focusing on furthering Horus' side and Omegon balancing it out by hampering it, though that has only really been seen in Serpent Beneath) they seem to be that kid in the school yard who stirs out a racket just for the sake of it, but without getting blamed. thumbsup.gif And I actually like that about them.

Now that still leaves the question; what are they fighting to achieve if they can't be placed in the pro-emperor or anti-emperor box? They do not seem to be emporium builders, but maybe they want to rule from behind the scenes. The emperor is too strong to become a puppet and in the case of Horus, his strings are already being pulled by entities, which the Legion might not be able to replace. So maybe they are maneuvering to remove both of these threats to their potential power in one fell swoop, which as we know they fail to do.

Anyway; If BL continuous to feed this discussion we will never know what their true goal is. But that is good for us fans as we can take our own warband in any direction we each individually desire and still call it fluffy^^ so let the schism remain!

Knowing the end of the Heresy, I do not see how the Alpha Legion fails to bring about an end where both the Emperor and Horus are laid low...

The end of the heresy brought an end to the figureheads but not all the puppet masters. If the alpha legion truly had its way it could possibly have had freeer reign and possibly not get caught up too much with chaos.
But again we need more light on the subject though I doubt we'll ever see the entire picture.

The layers upon layers of mystery serve for a lot of entertainment, but at some point fans will want some answers. Especially if those answers lead to even greater questions.
