Title: What do you think to the Forum?

Eetion - August 8, 2008 10:49 PM (GMT)
Im a little curious, as im always wanting ideas and plans to rove the Lair.
Waht do you think to the forum, and where can i improve this place.

Like the simplistic layout or not?
More glity things like portals and such?

What do you want to see?

Lipschitz - August 8, 2008 10:58 PM (GMT)
Personally, I like the simplistic layout.

Alot. :)

I like it fine the way it is, Eetion. You've done some fine work here. : Thumb :

It works well, Comrade. It is accessible and approachable, and still the source of stimulating discussion and inspirational art for our most enigmatic of Legions.

And the fact that it has never faded away again since its resurrection speaks volumes for the deep commitment of and excellent work undertaken by yourself and the other mods.

The layout works very well and is very accessible. The one thing I would surgest is to add a gallery where pics can be rated and commented on by the members.

I agree with the pics but other than that I think the lair is great as is.

The lair works well already, but it would be nice to work together to make an Alpha Legion tactica now that 5th edition has arrived. It can cover everything from basic play right through to the sneaky chamo tactics some of us have discussed. It could also have a section written from the perspective of playing AL using the loyalist space marines codex. I'd happily help write and coordiante such an undertaking if you decide you'd like to.

I like this idea, it would give us a data-base of various tactics to try out.

So do I.
Any takers for tactics articles and I will make sure they are compiled.

I can write one or two probably, once I get stable internet again

I'm glad that it's met with approval. It would also be nice to have a small tactics on unit choices with some example of how they can be used, where to use them, what you can expect them to achieve, what support do they require etc. Not in a codex astartes way that is set in stone, but as a way to better understanding the numerous heads that our hydra has.

In fact, why stop there? Why not write a tree campaign or two that everyone can try for the campaign section. We can ask Kaleb etc if we can host their techniques in a painting tutorial zone. Have tutorials on how to make different types of bases. In the fiction section create a list of how each CSM unit could be fielded by the AL (eg the one I've written about the bezerker). Incidently, I also have plans for the Sons of Omegon, and Imperial chapter who discover who their real brothers are which we could develop of an example to people who want to use loyalist rules for their AL.

And an organised set of links to all available AL background material. Someone gave a huge list in one of our discussions, can't remember who (sorry!).

With a bit of work, we could take this already great, friendly forum and add a wealth of information that we chip in together. After all, as AL we know that many heads are better than one.

Eetion - August 10, 2008 08:57 AM (GMT)
Yeah....
Lets get cracking. I will track down coding for the gallery.
Anyone feel like their qualified to write about anything inparticular?

Lay - August 10, 2008 10:26 AM (GMT)
I'm trying to complete a timeline with a source compilation added to it. Dunno where to post it when finished though.

Also, how about some userbars? They are fairly easy to make and people might be more willing to put them in their sigs because of their size.

On a side note: is this the standard format for this site? The NL forum and this one look somewhat "compacted" when compared to the IW 4th GC forum.

Plug - August 10, 2008 08:22 PM (GMT)
I love Kalarn's ideas. If all the ideas come togeather, it will make a great site even better.

Kalarn - August 10, 2008 08:29 PM (GMT)
I've started the Sons write up, the WIP of which is posted in the fiction forum. Soon I'll start work on a campaign that uses everything from combat patrol to apocalypse, though anyone else who wants to write a campaign should go for it.

Regarding the tactica, these articles should ideally have tested tactics, but theories would be welcome and could form some good discussion. Perhaps we can refer to them as 'Art of War' tacticas and 'Thoughts/reflections on war'.

Would anybody be interested in coming up with some house rules? We could try to make our own mini-Codex for 5th Edition that uses more infiltrating and cultists to get back some of the flavor we lost.

If we can wait for the 1st of September when I get stable internet again, I could do some of this. :)

Aristeo - August 13, 2008 12:54 AM (GMT)
I think if we all put in some effort we could make an awesome home-grown Codex. What would be the proper section of the forum to discuss house rules?

Eetion - August 13, 2008 04:55 AM (GMT)
Hmm, The tactics and articles area seems made for this.

Aristeo - August 13, 2008 10:59 PM (GMT)
Does that sound like a good idea to you, Eetion?

Eetion - August 14, 2008 05:00 AM (GMT)
Yeah, lets go for it.
