I think it only appropriate that as we seem to be attracting so many erudite, articulate and just simply outstanding minds to The Well right now, we employ said minds on our initial WHFB Mindgame. smiley-daydream.gif

There are currently three completely different Lores of Tzeentch in the game right now, these (obviously) being as presented in Warhammer Armies: Chaos Warriors; Chaos Daemons; and Beasts of Chaos (although it's generally accepted that this last tome is set to be replaced in the very near future).

What we'd like to achieve here is the creation of a single Lore of Tzeentch which will be completely true to the fluff of Tzeentch in all its subtle, manipulative, mind-warping glory.

We need to lay down some simple guidelines for this exercise:

* this is not a GW bagging exercise, just as this site is not a GW bagging site. All commentary is to couched in constructive language as we're basically building something here as opposed to just tearing something down. We accept that the game is not perfect, but that it is a lot of fun & that we are a community that exists because of our shared passion for those gorgeous plastic + pewter pieces, the stories that arise from and surround them, & the vagaries of the Dice Gods which seem overly preoccupied with stymying our best laid plans smiley-rotflol.gif ;

* all GW intellectual property is to be respected, so please stay very mindful of their copyrights & refrain from dumping slabs of their existing publications on this site (as I'll just have to erase it anyway); and

* please keep a sense of proportion in this Mindgame - it's virtually 100% certain that we will have no influence at all on GW's evolution of the game, so please savour the mental journey instead of worrying about whether or not our final destination will have any long term or significant impact upon the hobby.

I do have my own ideas and concepts about this subject, but as it'd be best served as a communal activity I'll sit back for now and let the first sorceror of courage and conviction initiate the flow of the Mindgame ... ... ... .

Allow me to make the first contribution, with I spell that I think reflects the schemer in Tzeentch very well:

Whispers of Tzeentch, cast on 8+

The sorcerer reaches into the minds of his foe, filling them with whispers promising betrayal and death at the hands of their superiors.
This spell may be cast on any unit within 24", the targeted unit may not use the leadership of the General or any character in the unit, and if the targeted unit has a character in it, the unit must take a LD test at base leadership (Not at characters LD), and if this is failed, all models in base conact with the character will make 1 attack on him.

This spell lasts until the beginning of the casting players next magic phase.

What do you think???

Hmmm, although it is something along the lines of 'mutating ones thoughts', the "they may not use their generals leadership" bit sounded a bit like * The God of Hairdressers *, you know. All ego and not wanting to follow their leader, but carve their own path. That sort of stuff.

Boon of Tzeentch is an obvious one to keep. They are the sole dominators of magic from all the Chaos gods and should have a BUCKETLOAD of power dice to use!

I can see where that comes from, and I agree psycological spells are usually * The God of Hairdressers *, so I'll work on adapting it for now.

On another note, I think glean magic should be slightly altered, so that it has a higher casting value, but any spell we glean is available for us in later turns to cast normally, or perhaps as a bound spell.

What do you guys think?

Being allowed to use spells (outside your lore) in later turns comes down to bookeeping and, personally, I'm not sure whether Warhammer Fantasy is a good game for that.

Game-wise, I think it would then be better to make it a permanent bound spell.

Making it a permenantly bound spell would work, as it would be like that empire casket which steals spells.

So what do you think the casting value would be for glean magic if it made the gleaned spell bound level 3 for example?
