**Dragons are the main defense against Threadfall and are very important to Pern's survival.

Gold Dragons
**Female Only
Average Length: 38 - 42 meters

Gold dragons are the largest dragons on Pern. Their skin can come to any shades of gold from yellow-green, to the splendid gold like precious metal. Queens control all the other colors not only for their size but because of how strong minded a Queen is. They help with keeping order within the Weyr when there is Thread or not. To check up on all dragons and check up with all the humans that live within the Weyr.They do not produce flame like the other colors for chewing firestone will make a Queen unfertile to produce any clutches. Queens will rise to mate two to three times a year, and producing a clutch of ten to forty-eight eggs at a time. A fully mature Queen is around three Turns of age and ready to mate Queen is around three Turns of age.

Silver Dragons

Average Length: 33 - 40 meters

Silver Dragons are the second largest dragons on Pern. Their skin can come in any shade of grey and even has some color tints. Silvers also function as queen dragons and have just the same power as golds when it comes to keeping the weyr in order. Silvers, like golds, are not allowed to chew firestone for it will render them infertile. Silvers rise to mate about one to two times per year. A fully mature Silver is around three Turns of age and a ready to mate Silver is between two and three Turns of age.

Shadow Dragons

Average Length 30 - 37 meters

Shadow Dragons are the third largest dragons on Pern and are a dark mutation of Bronze dragons. They can range from dark grey to jet black in color. When a Shadow mates, they actually have higher chances of producing clutches with the mutation colors than any other male dragon. Shadows are very strong male dragons and often take Wingleader positions in fighting wings. A fully mature Shadow is two Turns of age and a ready to mate Shadow is about one Turn of age.

Bronze Dragons

Average Length 28 - 36 meters

Bronze dragons are the fourth largest dragons on Pern. Bronze dragons function as the leaders of the fighting wings and are greatly respected by the other dragons. Bronzes usaually fly queens because of their size and stamina. They range from true bronze to greenish-brown in color. A fully mature and ready to mate Bronze is one Turn of age.

Brass Dragons
**Male or Female (Females extremely rare)
Avearage Length 25 - 32 meters

Brass dragons are the fifth largest dragons on Pern. No one is really sure what color dragon this mutation stems from, but it is a very rare mutation color. Brass dragons are pale gold in color, with orange and red undertones. Females are allowed to chew firestone, but this doesn't always render them infertile and they produce rather small clutches, with no queen eggs at all, though the clutch is always mutation colors. A fully mature and ready to mate Brass dragon is two Turns of age.

Brown Dragons

Average Length: 24 - 30 meters

Brown dragons are the sixth largest dragons on Pern. They make capable Wingseconds and it's not unheard of of a brown dragon flying a queen, though the clutch never produces a queen egg. They range from tan to dark chocolate brown in color. A fully mature and ready to mate Brown is one Turn of age.

Violet Dragons

Average Length: 24 - 29 meters

Violet dragons are the seventh largest dragons on Pern. A rare color mutation, a Violet's fertility is unaffected by firestone and they can produce small clutches, though never queen eggs. A fully mature and ready to mate Violet is one Turn of age. Violets rise to mate once every other Turn.

Blue Dragons

Average Length: 21 - 27 meters

Blue dragons are the either largest dragons on Pern. They are best suited for pursuing stay clump of Thread that get passed the wings. They are much more agile than the larger males. Blues also become very sensitive when there are eggs on the sands and go on Search for suited candidates. A fully mature and ready to mate Blue is one Turn of age.

Crimson Dragons

Average Length: 21 - 26 meters

Crimson dragons are the ninth largest dragons on Pern. Male Crimsons are a mutation of blue while females are a mutation of green dragons. Female Crimsons are born infertile. They function the same as Blues for their agility. A fully mature and ready to mate Crimson is one Turn of age. A female Crimson rises to mate once every Turn.

Green Dragons

Average Length: 20 - 25 meters

Green dragons are the tenth largest dragons on Pern. Greens tend to be rather reckless during Threadfall. Green dragons chew firestone, rendering them infertile. A fully mature and ready to mate green is one Turn of age. A green rises to mate three to four times per Turn.

White Dragons
**Genderless
Average Length: 14 - 17 meters

White dragons are the smallest dragons on Pern. Rare among clutches, most don't even hatch due to the fact their eggshells are much thicker than normal. White are total abstract of color and are very small. They cannot last a full Threadfall. White dragons are born neutered and genderless, though their voice takes on the gender of their bonded. A White does not rise to mate and is fully mature at one Turn of age.

Hybrid Dragons

Hybrid dragons are onyl obtainable through some contests or, occasionally, through purchase at the Weyr Store. Hybrid dragons are a combination of two colors. Female hybrids are neutered, so the cannot produce more hybrids and male hybrids do not produce more hybrids when they mate.
