AFTER THE TUDORS;
|
|
After The Tudors is an AU site, but uses history as a guide, and takes aspects from the Tudors TV series, as well as the Elizabeth movies. It's up to you, the members, to decide the outcome of the site. Will the Catholic Mary remain queen, or will she be triumphed by the Protestant Elizabeth?
As of now, Edward is dead, and in his place sits his devoutly Catholic sister, Mary. For months Mary has been hiding behind closed doors, in fear of the public she now has to rule, the majority of which are Protestant. Never imagining she would live to sit on the throne, the new queen not only has to deal with her people, but the secretaries who once worked so diligently for her brother. Between her citizens, and her council, returning to the old ways, and forging the bonds that were once broken with the Sea of Rome, will not be easy for the eldest Tudor, but she is determined to try.

Edward had to admit that it was strange coming back to the hustle and bustle of the court after such a long absence, everything seemed strange to him and there were many notable disapearances from court as well as arrivals. It probably had something to do with what had occured between the monarchy during his leave, according to sources Princess Mary was now to be Queen. Edward wasn't quite sure how he felt about that, after all he was a protestant and she a catholic but somehow that had ceased to matter in the last few months. His father, however, had had much to say on the matter. A little too much perhaps.
Pulling the cuffs of his gloves, he began to feel steadily more nervous the further he got to reaching Beth's rooms. Beth. He hadn't seen her in so long....it was shameful really, considering that they were engaged after all. Then again, his disapearance was the least of his shames. Clearing his throat as he came face to face with the door to her room, he rolled his eyes at his lack of masculinity and instead simply opened the door and let himself in. Beth appeared to be sitting with her back to the door, drinking. He wondered for a moment how long she'd been there, drinking. It worried him slightly, even though he somehow knew that she would have been sensible enough not to over-indulge. "Beth...is that you?"

It was as if the very sound of his voice had been a catalyst of some sort, a miracle which woke her from her slumper, it was wonderful the way she had come alive as soon as she had heard from him. It only made him feel more and more guilty for going away in the first place.... if she knew what he'd done.... but no. He must keep a hold on himself, she never would find out and life would return to normal for him and they would be happy. As she rushed towards him, enveloping him in an embrace, he struggled to keep his footing and would have fallen backwards had it not been for his own eagerness to hold her in his arms again. Wrapping his arms around her waist and supporting her back he held her to him as if at any moment she might disapear in a puff of smoke. Lowering his head to hers he returned her sweet kiss and then drew back to look upon her beautiful face. And oh! It was beautiful.... "I have missed this face of yours, my dear Beth. It feels as though we have been parted for much longer...." His eyes met wth hers and he looked into the perfect brown of her irises before holding her to him again.
His eyes closed, he buried his face in her golden locks of hair and said nothing for the longest of times before he drew back again and released her from his grip. Marching past her he made his way over to where she had been seated moments before and bent to sniff the goblet she had been drinking. So it was wine, naturally, though it didn't appear to be the strong stuff. Shame, he could really use some right now. "How have you been keeping yourself in my absence?"
