AFTER THE TUDORS;
|
|
After The Tudors is an AU site, but uses history as a guide, and takes aspects from the Tudors TV series, as well as the Elizabeth movies. It's up to you, the members, to decide the outcome of the site. Will the Catholic Mary remain queen, or will she be triumphed by the Protestant Elizabeth?
As of now, Edward is dead, and in his place sits his devoutly Catholic sister, Mary. For months Mary has been hiding behind closed doors, in fear of the public she now has to rule, the majority of which are Protestant. Never imagining she would live to sit on the throne, the new queen not only has to deal with her people, but the secretaries who once worked so diligently for her brother. Between her citizens, and her council, returning to the old ways, and forging the bonds that were once broken with the Sea of Rome, will not be easy for the eldest Tudor, but she is determined to try.

 May I present Lady Elizabeth Tudor? That's her with her father King Henry VIII up there. She's almost eighteen and sister to Edward VI and Mary Tudor and the new sister-in-law of Phillip of Bavaria. Third in line for the throne of England, she never expects to become Queen. Elizabeth is an intelligent girl, fluent in French, Italian, Latin, and Greek. Her education, both academic and spiritual, was spearheaded by her dear friend and mentor Kat Ashley. Catherine Parr also took a vested interest in the girl, and because of this Elizabeth finds herself a devout member of the Church of England, one thing that helps her side with her brother and sometimes turns her against her sister. Elizabeth was labeled illegitimate and a bastard before the age of three, and it is something she's lived with all her life. Were it not for Catherine Parr, she would have never had a line in the succession, nor would she have become so close with her father preceding his death. This stigma of being a royal bastard is not the only heartache she must bear, for vicious rumors concerning inappropriate behavior between herself and Thomas Seymour, the executed Baron of Sudeley, run rife through the court, as well as rumors concerning her and Henry Brandon. She vehemently and honestly denies all these rumors, but they are something she is going to continue to have to bear, it seems. She is looking for dear friends upon her return to court along with her sister, there should be no lack of enemies, and while she will be very wary of them, lovers are also a possibility. Let's plot!Family King Henry VII -- Father, Deceased Anne Boleyn -- Mother, Deceased King Edward VI -- Brother Lady Mary Tudor -- Sister Phillip of Bavaria -- Brother-In-Law Anne of Cleves -- Former Stepmother

Well, we have Mary and Elizabeth threading already, so no need to fling her at you (I will reply as soon as my exams are over, I promise!!) But I also have two other characters, Thomas Wyatt the younger, and Francis Walsingham Elizabeth && Wyatt Thomas has only just returned from Boulogne recently with his lovely wife and daughters, him and Elizabeth met, more as a 'passing in the corridors' kinda thing at the banquet to celebrate Edwards' ascension to the throne years ago. They didn't really say much to each other, but there's bound to be many roleplay possibilities what with her mother and his father once being such close friends And ya, the whole Wyatt rebellion thing too *hangs head in shame* Elizabeth && Walsingham Now, as is known very well, Francis was one of Elizabeth's most trusted servants, and overturned every attempt made against her life when she was queen. I would love to see these two become friends. Walsingham always seemed quite protective of Elizabeth, which I think is the root of why he hated Robert Dudley so much, and of course they share the same faith, though I find Walsingham to be a lot more fanatical when it comes to the Protestant religion than Elizabeth was. Walsingham is quite young at this current point in time, only about nineteen or twenty (such a shame, because I wanna use Geoffrey Rush as the face claim sooooo badly!), so he hasn't yet become the cunning individual of the Elizabethan era, though he is a rather wary person alright, kinda prone to doubting the word of anyone... save for Anna Von Kleve that is

Elizabeth && Wyatt Huzzah! Given both the past relationship with their parents and the rebellion, I think besides friends they could also be a type of ally. I think Elizabeth's going to be very nervous about Mary and Phillip, especially if they have children before Edward does and he continues to be sickly, so I think Thomas would be most welcome to her acquaintance, and maybe we could do an interesting thread on the anniversary of her mother's death between them? Elizabeth && Walsingham Francis and Elizabeth definitely need to be friends! I think his fanaticism would maybe alarm her a bit, but at the same time she'd be heartened to see someone so supportive of the new faith. And the whole thing with Anna proves interesting as well, given the fact that she and Elizabeth are on the outs at the moment. And if things get sticky later, their friendship could prove to be very beneficial for both of them.

Elizabeth && Wyatt OMG! Anniversary of Anne's death?? I love that idea! Definitely game for that, and I can see them being allies as well, though, Wyatt is, at his heart, a Catholic, he does have reformist ideals similarly to his father, and may be more supportive of the slightly more lenient approach Elizabeth favoured toward religion during her reign, as opposed to the fanatical approaches of Edward and Mary. Elizabeth && Walsingham Haha, Francis isn't a 'hyper' Protestant just yet... he's slowly getting there though, if Edward's health continues to deteriorate, and it seems more likely that Mary is going to claim the throne, he'll probably become all the more fanatical in his beliefs. Francis was one of the Protestants that fled the country during Mary's reign, and didn't return until Elizabeth became queen. Wow... I wonder how the whole Anna thing might effect things? Didn't even think about that? Hhmm... who knows, Francis might even become something of a peacekeeper

Elizabeth && Wyatt I KNOW RIGHT?! What a happy coincidence it's actually May in game. XD IT COULD BE EMO-TASTIC or just bonding-tastic. XD And I think that Elizabeth would be much more comfortable with a Catholic of Thomas' caliber, as opposed to her sister (because I think she was just trying to keep the two religions from devouring each other when she reigned, but that's just me). So either way, WE HAS PLANSES! And would you like me to start a thread for the anniversary that you can get to when exams are done, or would you like to start it? Elizabeth && Walsingham I remember Francis being gone from England when Mary became Queen, indeed. And I have no idea why, but I LOL'd at the thought of Francis being a peacekeeper. Because I'm a dork. XD Perhaps we should thread Thomas and Elizabeth first and then, afterwards when there's probably been some more Anna stuff, we could thread Elizabeth and Francis? I keep wanting to call him Walsy

Elizabeth && Wyatt I definitely agree with you on Elizabeth just trying to keep the peace between the two warring religions, she never seemed to take sides, so YAAA! We gots something... if you could pretty please start the thread, and I'll get back to it as soon as my exams are over, that would be fantastic I'm not normally this lazy when it comes to starting threads, but I've decided to be during my exams Elizabeth && Walsingham I know! Francis... a peacekeeper... the man who single-handedly took down Mary of Scots? Never! We'll focus on the above two first, and set something up for these two at a later stage, maybe when things get a bit more complicated with Anna, like you said, makes for more drama and stuff! LOL! I totally call him Franny and Walsie all the time
