Interested in writing some Science Fiction? Check out The Caelum Alliance, our sister site! Caelum is set up very similarly to Abydos, but with a futuristic space/science fiction setting. You'll probably see a few familiar faces! Please note that Abydos Role Players do not need to apply in order to RP on Caelum. Please register an account and send me a PM on Caelum; I'll confirm your e-mail address and/or IP address and promote you to Role Player status.
8.9.2009 - Update: I'm opening Caelum to new registrations. Due to RL stress/issues I haven't been able to post on the site and probably won't for a few weeks, but that's no reason you guys can't. The site is currently intended to be quite small, I'm not going to have any staff for the time being. I will recruit for the site on RPG-D once we get a few role plays going. Enjoy! |

Hi Abydosians!
As a few of you know, I've been working on a sister site for Abydos for many weeks. It's finally looking about ready to open. But, before I open the site to new registrations, I'd like to get some feedback to see if people like what I've set up. Here are a few guidelines for the feedback:
- If you choose to give feedback, please state whether you'll actually register and post on the site. I don't mind if you give feedback or suggestions either way, it just helps me figure out whether the people who want to write on the site like it or not.
- I've set the site up identically to Abydos, so feedback on the site layout isn't needed.
- I'd like feedback on the site content, background info, planet layout, etc. Do you like it / can you RP in this setting with enough flexibility to suit you?
Please note that the site is not open to new user registrations, as I'd like to perfect the setup before allowing role players to register. Once I get feedback and tweak anything that needs tweaking, I'll let you guys know so that you can register. It's been slow going as I've been prioritizing Abydos over this, so it may be a little while before it's officially online.

What do you guys think about my attempt at our new banner? Don't feel bad about making comments, I can work with feedback!

The board is doing pretty well these days, and I've been contemplating getting us a registered domain name because it isn't that expensive. We'd have two main choices, www.abydosquest.com or www.theabydosquest.com. Or, there's www.elumintir.com (the name of our little world).
A third option is to re-name the board. I picked 'Abydos' because the board was originally conceived as a place to role play both sci-fi and fantasy stories, and an Egyptian theme was neutral to both of these. But we're just writing fantasy here these days, so re-naming the board is a feasible option. Elumintir would probably be high on the list, but we could think of others.
Please post below if you have thoughts or opinions to add! I'll see what everyone has to say and then decide what the next step should be. |
