Character Conduct- Special: This role play is rather different than others since it combines fantasy and reality. The characters have the ability to change their shape and take on an animal form and their attributes. Though a character may take the form of a bear, that doesn't mean when they are in their human shape they still retain their strength; in this way the role play is also realistic.
- PG: There is no true telling how old people on this site are, and we don't want someone reading something inappropriate. To prevent this, all posts must be PG rated, meaning no graphic breeding, fighting, or hunting. If you violate this rule, you will be punished.
- Language: I would prefer no cussing or foul language at all In Character, but I understand some characters are more inclined to use a "bad" word every now and then. Cursing is allowed, but please keep it to a minimum. If I see a sentence where every other word is a cuss word you will be warned.
- Literacy: The literacy level of this site ranges from semi-literate and up, meaning role players here are capable of writing decent senteces with little to no grammatical errors, and posts are of a respectable length. Please follow their example, and if you aren't able to, please ask for assistance and an admin will help you meet the standard.
- Threads: Your character can be in two threads at once only. This will prevent the confusion of figuring out which thread came before the other, and whether you've already met someone before you meet someone else. No more than two threads please.
- No God-Moding: God-Moding is not allowed. No one character can know something that has happened in another section of land without having been there or heard it from someone else. No character is allowed to be all powerful either; it breaks the first rule.
- No Power Playing: You control your character and your character alone. You can't role play anyone else's character unless you have their permission; if this is so, please write it somewhere so the admins aren't on your tail. This most commonly shows up in a fight, see Fighting rules for more details.
- OOC Comments: Posts should include only role playing since we have boards for OOC (Out of Character) talk, but if something must be said not pertaining to the role play, please be respectful and use some form of OOC/IC or (( )) so we don't get confused reading it.
- Length: Post length should be at least ten to twelve sentences long. Anything longer is much preferred, though we understand our muse (inspiration for writing) sometimes evades us, and other times strikes back with a vengeance.
- Grammar: I think it is safe to say that not everyone can spell words right the first time around. Please reread your posts for grammatical errors like switched words or misspellings before you post them; it could save confusion later when someone goes to reply.
- Fighting: If a character plans to challenge another character to a fight, an admin must be notified. They will be responsible for overlooking the fight to make sure things play out fairly and no one character is cheated out of a good attack. Please fill out the form, and an admin will restate the rules for you.
- Setting: The setting is there to help keep things organized since it would be awkward to have a thread running during a snowstorm and at the same time have one where it's 106 degrees and rising. Follow the stated setting and please don't modify it; the admins will do so when necessary. About Shifters- Shifters: The Shifters are people who are able to take on the shape of an animal at will. Only one animal form is allowed per Shifter, and this rule will not change so choose wisely. You are allowed to change your character's animal while editing your application, but once you begin role playing you will no longer be allowed to change it.
- Forms: There are two different forms a Shifter can take: animal and human. There is no in between form where your character is still mostly human but has an animal attribute. Make both forms typical for their species, meaning no strange hair/fur/skin/scale/feather/etc. colors or odd eye colors varying from the norm. Keep things as realistic as you can, as hard as that sounds.
- Animals: Not all types of animals will be allowed. Please choose an animal that would be found in a wooded area like the one described as the setting here. Exotic animals that aren't common in this sort of area won't likely be accepted. Admins will determine if your animal will be accepted or not when you fill out the character application. If you'd like to know ahead of time before making an account, feel free to ask in the Q&A board.
- Living: Characters are living in a simpler time, providing for themselves with what they can grow and harvest from the land. There are no jeans and t-shirts like we wear nowadays, or tennis shoes. Leather is most common since it is durable, and cloth is comfortable for those who can come by it but please don't make their clothing flashy. Jewelry is allowed, though keep it rather simple.
- Communicating: The only way characters are able to speak to one another is if they are in the same form. Now that doesn't mean because your character is a bird and another is a frog that they can't speak to each other. Animals can speak with animals, humans can speak with humans. It's as simple as that.
- Outsiders: There are none. The Shifters are the only people inhabiting the area, aside from their wild animal counterparts. Your character must have traveled over with the first batch of Shifters and decided to stay, unless your character aged quickly in their animal form after being born here.
- Offspring: Depending on how the child is born determines what animal they will shift into. A child born to a mother in her animal form must take on that animal form in order to be birthed. A child born to a mother in her human form can take on a different animal than that of either of their parents.
- Aging: Aging is more determined by which form your character takes on more. Animals typically age faster than humans, so it's possible for your character to technically be a a year or two old and look like they are somewhere in their teens when in their human shape. The life stages of both species correspond, so if your character, when human, is very young, then they would be a pup/cub/fawn/chick/etc. If they were a fully mature wolf at 4 years, then they would look like an adult in their human form. It mainly depends on which shape they live their lives in. If you have more questions, feel free to ask.
- Shifting: Shifting usually doesn't take place right after birth. During the beginning of the child's life, it is kept in one to keep things simple and make providing for it easier. Once the parent is able to fully explain to the child what shifting is and go through a change with them will they be allowed to shift on their own. Until they are able to master the change themselves they should be supervised.
